Beckie be your Best
Be organised and prepared for learning.
Welcome to term one,
A rather strange start but rest assured online learning programs have been developed and will be launched next week. We are ready to cater for any learning needs that may arise from COVID 19 but fully intend to remain ‘open for business’.
Despite all of this it has been a very positive start to the year, with new teachers, Education Assistants, and of course, new families. I would like to extend a very big welcome to our new school community members and acknowledge our current students for their welcoming nature and care for our ‘new people’.
As always, I am humbled and proud to serve this school community and extend the offer to assist with any concerns you may have with your child’s education during these stressful times.
A big welcome to the following new staff:
Miss Maddison Hope in ECE 4
Miss Gabrielle Spackman in Rm 3
Miss Madison Gamble in Rm 14
Mrs Kylie Taff in ECE 1 (Fridays only)
Miss Carina Marwitz in Rm 7
Mrs Danielle Robertson in Rm 20
Miss Jody McTaggart in Rm 22
Mr Cameron Pether in Rm 24
We also have a number of new Education Assistants:
Mrs Caroline Banka
Miss Oakah Venn-Woods
Mrs Chelsea Butterworth
Mrs Pamela White
Mrs Lorayne Riley
Mrs Tracy Webster
Our Education Assistants and teachers are all talented and hardworking and we are all enjoying having them as part of the phenomenal team at Baynton West PS.
Welcome to Roisin Kealy and Eloise McArthur our Occupational Therapists on their final placement from Curtin University.
We are so fortunate to work closely with the Western Australian Clinical School of Rural Health and host students every term.
If you would like information on how to access support for your child please contact Lisa Ledger on 9187 6200.
Thank you to everyone for your cooperation and assisting us with transitioning to mask wearing and supporting us by remaining outside of classrooms. It is strongly suggested that parents wear a mask to school as social distancing around classrooms cannot be guaranteed, however this is not able to be enforced. However, please be assured that all staff are double or triple vaccinated and all of them are wearing masks, apart from when we are engaged in face to face teaching, to minimise risk to students. The students have been accepting, with some regularly complimenting us on our masks and some even wearing one! Please be assured that we are not promoting mask wearing to students and strictly follow Education Department procedures in this space. I would like to congratulate all of our parents/caregivers for raising such resilient and positive children, they are all are unique and they bring joy to our school and our lives every day.
Lastly, please ensure you have Seesaw up and running on your device in the event of a school closure and the need to transition to ‘at home’ learning, if you are struggling with downloading Seesaw, please let us know as soon as possible. Notifications of closure will also be sent through our SMS text messaging system – MGM Outreach, so please ensure your phone numbers are up to date. If you are having any difficulties with device usage, please contact either of our COVID coordinators; Justine Passmore or Lisa Ledger on 9187 6200.
Thank you for supporting our school by paying your voluntary contributions and charges ($60 for Pre-primary to Year 6, and $40 for Kindergarten) and by promptly purchasing maths and spelling books (only for children in Year 1-6), learning is in full swing and all children need these books to access the curriculum.
As always thank you for your ongoing support and optimism, we will get through this stronger than ever!
